Taking The Smarter Route: Bihimuthu’s Journey to Becoming a Digital Marketer

A Spark Ignited Early

Bihimuthu always had a fascination with how brands communicate online. While many of his peers explored different interests, he found himself drawn to the creative and analytical side of digital marketing. Coming from a business-minded family—with a father running his own venture and a mother managing the household—he was raised with an appreciation for financial responsibility and the value of hard work.

Yet, despite his enthusiasm, pursuing a career in digital business wasn’t easy. The opportunities near him were few, and the traditional academic paths didn’t quite align with what he was looking for: a fast, relevant, and skills-focused education.

“I was going to pursue digital marketing. but here in my area there wasn’t any prominent digital marketing field where I can pursue my education. I had to travel about 3 hours, and the cost is way more”
The Distance Between Dreams and Reality
After completing his A/Levels, Bihimuthu was ready to pursue his passion—but reality posed several roadblocks. Local programs were either too expensive, too far, or too theoretical. He didn’t want to spend years in a classroom just to come out lacking the practical experience that employers expect. The looming prospect of student loans and a delayed career start made the conventional route feel increasingly out of touch.

He knew he needed more than just a degree—he needed experience, financial flexibility, and a chance to grow in real-time with the industry.
Finding a Smarter Way Forward
That’s when he discovered eduCLaaS, and everything changed. The bachelor’s program’s “earn while you learn” structure instantly resonated with him. It was a chance to work while studying, to build both skills and income, and to gain international credentials without leaving his home environment.

The first-year bootcamp was demanding but rewarding. It pushed him outside his comfort zone, improving not just his digital marketing knowledge, but his soft skills too. From mastering time management to working effectively in virtual teams, the experience prepared him for the pace and demands of the modern workplace. The capstone industry project brought everything together, challenging him to turn learning into action.

“It was very intensive the first few months. A lot of the colleagues I went with also said the same thing. The first few months were hard, but after that, I got used to it and I think I mostly gained advantages from it. With the hands-on projects, presentations, also the assessments.”
Turning Education Into Real-World Experience
Following the bootcamp, Bihimuthu began a paid apprenticeship as a Marketing Associate at eduCLaaS. This role marked a major turning point. Over six months, he immersed himself in campaign management, email marketing, and tools like HubSpot, gaining firsthand experience in areas he once only studied in theory.

One project he’s particularly proud of involved managing segmented email communications for an open house event. Through this, he learned the nuances of audience targeting and message personalization—skills that are now second nature to him. Balancing apprenticeship duties with academic requirements wasn’t easy, but it taught him resilience and sharp time management.

“I think I’m more confident than I was before I started the boot camp because I learned a lot during and after. And even in the apprenticeship. After finishing my degree program, I would be able to pursue a prominent career in digital marketing.”
Eyes on the Horizon
Bihimuthu isn’t slowing down. He’s eager to deepen his knowledge in campaign analytics, automation, and performance marketing. He dreams of leading high-impact marketing campaigns and eventually stepping into a senior role where strategy, leadership, and creativity intersect.

His journey stands as a reminder that education doesn’t have to follow a traditional path to be effective. For students looking for practical, sustainable, and meaningful learning experiences, his advice is simple: look beyond the expected.
