Redefining the Path: Dharma’s Journey Beyond Traditional Learning

Rising from Uncertainty and Natural Disasters
Kadek Dharma Prana Wangsa grew up in Bali, Indonesia—surrounded by serene coastlines and the creative energy of coffee shops and music. But behind the calm exterior, his journey was shaped by challenges many would find overwhelming.

After facing a series of setbacks—including a volcanic eruption and the global COVID-19 pandemic—Dharma’s family found themselves in a tough financial situation. At the same time, the sudden shift to online learning during high school added to his struggle.

“The learning process was a bit hard at first because you don’t have a real-time mentor to ask… No, let’s just be real—it’s better to have it offline rather than online in my opinion.”

Despite these obstacles, Dharma stayed diligent. He wasn’t the loudest or most standout student, but he worked quietly and consistently toward something more.
Rethinking the Traditional Path
Upon graduating from Senior High School, Dharma found himself at a crossroads. The conventional path in Bali mirrors much of Southeast Asia: finish high school, go to university for four years, complete an internship, and then secure a job. Dharma initially chose this direction. He even applied to a traditional university.

“I didn’t choose it right away. I was still leaning toward the normal university path.”

His mindset changed after a long conversation with his father, who emphasized the importance of practical work experience and the inefficiencies of a purely academic route.

“He made me realize how difficult it would be to succeed without experience. That’s when I started considering eduCLaaS seriously.”

Ultimately, two key factors swayed his decision: the promise of strong future career prospects and the encouragement of his family. The Digital Business program he enrolled in would offer not just academic knowledge but the chance to gain real-world experience early.
From Zero Experience to Project-Ready
What made Dharma’s journey unique wasn’t just his choice to buck tradition—it was how he started. When he joined eduCLaaS, he had never touched a personal laptop before. His first exposure to a digital workspace happened on the same day as his first class.

“It was a nervous moment. Everything was digital, and I had no background at all. Even though I had zero experience, my classmates and mentor made the transition smooth.”

The program structure—modular, project-based, and condensed—helped him stay engaged in ways that traditional semester-based formats never did. Each module offered a fresh start and a new challenge, allowing him to focus on one topic at a time.
Learning by Doing: Dharma’s Turning Point
Instead of feeling overwhelmed, Dharma quickly adapted thanks to the supportive mentors and classmates. The hands-on projects turned challenges into learning moments—especially one key project that, with guidance, became his strongest asset in job interviews. What once felt intimidating became the foundation of his success.

“Even though I had zero experience, the practical project became my strongest bullet during interviews.”

He especially struggled with the omnichannel module, which required integrating various marketing tools like Meta Ads, HubSpot, and WordPress. But with guidance from his mentor and collaboration with classmates, Dharma turned things around and completed a successful project.
Early Career Success—and Ambition for More
Dharma’s success didn’t end with program completion. He began his journey as a Marketing Associate, applying what he learned in real-world settings. Today, even before graduating, he holds a position many fresh graduates aspire to: Digital Marketing Executive. He attributes his rapid career progress to the skills and confidence he gained through eduCLaaS.

But Dharma is far from complacent. His eyes are already set on his next goal: becoming a Digital Marketing Manager.

“In the future, well, for now I have achieved one of my goals—to be promoted into a Digital Marketing Executive. Of course, I want to become a manager someday. But first, I need to learn everything about my current role. There’s still so much more I want to understand.”

His approach remains rooted in humility and continuous growth—a quality that sets him apart in a world obsessed with quick wins.
Advice to Future Learners
Looking back on his journey, Dharma has one piece of advice for students considering a non-traditional path:

“No matter how good the program is, it won’t work if the dedication doesn’t come from you. I’ve seen students fail—not because the program was lacking, but because they didn’t give their full effort.”
