From Self-Learning to Full-Stack Success: Azer’s Journey with eduCLaaS

A Curious Mind with a Big Dream
For Azer Gepiga Sagucio, learning was always a personal adventure. Growing up in the Philippines, he spent hours listening to music and reading books—activities that naturally fueled his love for self-learning. That curiosity led him to discover coding during senior high school, and from that moment, he knew exactly what he wanted: to become a software engineer.

“I’ve always been a curious and independent learner,” Azer shares. “I love discovering things on my own, and technology gave me endless opportunities to do just that.”

With a strong academic focus and a practical mindset shaped by his family’s careful approach to finances, Azer was determined to make the most of his education—without putting too much strain on his loved ones.
When the Traditional Path Didn’t Fit
Azer initially planned to follow the traditional route: earn a degree, get certifications, land internships. But then the pandemic hit—and with it, a wave of uncertainty. He was forced to pause his college education and question if this path was truly helping him grow the way he wanted.

“I realized that traditional education might not provide the hands-on experience or the fast-track to employment I needed,” he says. “I was unsure how to balance gaining practical skills with the time and financial constraints I faced.”

That realization pushed him to explore alternatives that were more aligned with his career ambitions.
Discovering the Right Fit with eduCLaaS
When Azer’s school introduced the eduCLaaS work-study program, he knew it was the opportunity he had been waiting for.

“I immediately signed up because it aligned with my goals—gaining real industry experience while studying,” he says.

Unlike conventional learning models, eduCLaaS offered immersive training, real-world projects, and the chance to work while learning. The curriculum was practical and directly linked to what the tech industry demands.

“The hands-on approach really prepared me for the actual challenges of software development,” Azer explains.
A Year of Growth and Grit
The 12-month boot camp was intense, but for Azer, it was life-changing. He learned front-end and back-end frameworks such as Laravel and Spring, and strengthened his database management skills with MySQL.

One of the biggest turning points came during a project that involved working with outdated frameworks.

“I was really frustrated at first,” Azer admits. “But it taught me persistence and resourcefulness. I learned how important it is to understand the bigger picture, not just follow instructions.”

Time management was also a personal hurdle. At first, juggling coursework and projects felt overwhelming. But Azer adapted by creating a system that worked for him.

“I broke big tasks into smaller, manageable steps and set personal deadlines,” he explains. “That helped me stay consistent and meet my goals.”
From Learner to Technology Associate
Today, Azer is thriving in his apprenticeship as a Technology Associate. The experience has not only sharpened his technical skills but also helped him develop key soft skills that are essential in the workplace.

“I’ve become more adaptable and confident in problem-solving,” he says. “Before, I just wanted to be a developer. Now, I feel ready to take on intermediate roles in the industry.”

Azer credits eduCLaaS for helping him bridge the gap between education and employment—and for showing him that learning can be both impactful and enjoyable when it’s done right.
Advice for Aspiring Developers
His message to fellow learners? Stay curious, be proactive, and don’t underestimate the value of real-world experience.

“Focus on building hands-on skills through projects, network with professionals, and tailor your learning to your goals,” he says. “And most importantly, take time to invest in yourself.”
A Clearer Future, A Stronger Foundation
With eduCLaaS, Azer didn’t just learn how to code—he built the confidence, skills, and experience to thrive as a full-stack developer.

“eduCLaaS has been a game-changer for me,” he says. “It’s not just about earning a degree—it’s about building a strong foundation for a successful career.”
